Free incoming mobile calls in the US

June 20, 2010 by grassroots

I haven't tried it yet but if you set up something similar to this http://www.intomobile.com/2007/05/09/get-free-incoming-calls-on-t-mobile..., you can use what is now Google Voice instead of Grand Central to get free incoming mobile calls to avoid getting charged.

Recycle or Reuse your old laptops or PCs please

May 11, 2010 by chicken

1) We are reusing a ThinkPad Pentium III with a 20Gb hard-drive operating on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, and it's using an old wireless card for Internet connection. And we think there's thousands of computers (if not hundreds of thousands) out there sitting in people's closets.

2) More importantly, the excessive use of minerals inside our computers contributes to conflict in countries. See silverbackers.org.

3) Someone else that never had a computer in their life can use one!

Ning to charge, Facebook lite stops, what next?

April 21, 2010 by webmaster

So we're trying to work hard to provide up-to-date free technology solutions. It's definitely a challenge with all the technological changes, and as a nonprofit, we want to share the nonprofit perspective since there's not really a community providing this perspective often.

We will edit our Facebook page soon, and we're wondering if there's another lite social networking community for lower bandwidth areas? Since lite.facebook.com is gone, we suggest http://m.facebook.com.

To accommodate Mobile Users

April 13, 2010 by webmaster

The iGetcha team has been working on the mobile theme a bit. Apologies if our site was a bit wacky when accessed. We basically want less kB to be downloaded for those who cannot afford it. As we mentioned before, mobile phone users in India for instance can browse the mobile site and search for free software tools to test and/or download at an Internet cafe later. In this way, the costs associated for researching nonprofit tools will be cheaper.

We still need to refine it a bit because we have not eliminated all pictures on the mobile site.

Revamping our site

March 25, 2010 by webmaster

Hello community,

Because of Chicken's hard work, the iGetcha team is trying to make the site more Chicken-centric. What that means is, an attempt at a more microblogging, friendly site will be explored. If you have any advice about Drupal add-ons, please let us know.

Thanks!

The iGetcha Team :)

Apologies for the delay

March 12, 2010 by webmaster

The iGetcha team realizes that their are several questions and comments on the site outstanding. We hope to address all questions and comments soon! We are a small team so updating the directory with the latest free technology/software and responding to individuals takes some time.

We appreciate your understanding and hope our site is helping all your non-profit global work!
