iGetcha.org is a suggested opensource and free software directory for the technological sustainability of nonprofits. It's also a simple, non-techie shortlist to assist organizations with a SOHO.
A play on words, CiviCRM or Civil Society Constituent Relationship Management is the most reputable open source CRM available. Some of our volunteers have experience in the software so please post a question on iGetcha if you have one :) Of course, we're not completely versed in the intracacies of CiviCRM (because there's a lot of functionality available) so if you're highly technical, you can definitely do a lot with CiviCRM.

For example as a free ngo management tool, CiviCRM will help with marketing and outreach for eactivism on issues that your nonprofit or ngo wants to address. That is, your database created with Drupal for instance will have important designated info (customized by your ngo) such as do subscribers want to receive newsletters, survey data on eactions related to your mission, et cetera.
CiviCRM is not the most intuitive software, but again, it is free for nonprofits and ngos. At iGetcha, we try to find the most user-friendly stuff and also, free in terms of cost besides the Internet cost of downloading the software. In cases such as CiviCRM, there is a need for compromise and understanding by nonprofits and ngos because having the best of both the user-friendly and free worlds cannot always be the case.
