iGetcha.org is a suggested opensource and free software directory for the technological sustainability of nonprofits. It's also a simple, non-techie shortlist to assist organizations with a SOHO.
What can we say about Computer Aid International? We actually found there work through Twitter and we greatly admire their efforts in ICT4D.
At iGetcha.org, we try to find free technology solutions for not-for-profit organizations and NGOs. And in reality, in terms of physical hardware, this is nearly impossible without grants and/or funding to cover the costs of shipments. What's cool about Computer Aid International is that they try to limit cost per computer similar to World Computer Exchange. And remember, these organizations are trying to help internationally, which is not an easy task.
One of the several, really cool projects we noticed from Computer Aid International is a solar powered Internet cafe that they supplied to Zambia. So, if you're volunteering abroad and focus on ICT development take a look at Computer Aid International. If your budget allows it, they may be able to help your initiatives in developing regions. And, they recycle and reuse computers which is something a lot of us want to do, but don't really do it!
