iGetcha.org is a suggested opensource and free software directory for the technological sustainability of nonprofits. It's also a simple, non-techie shortlist to assist organizations with a SOHO.
Gmail offline recently graduated from a 0.4 version in December of 2009. Take this email client seriously if your nonprofit operates with a Google account. What Gmail offline will do is, cache some of your mail data so if you lose connection, you'll still have access to Gmail features. Basically, Gmail will download Gears (which apparently will be replaced by HTML5 possibly in the future) to add to your Firefox browser, for example, and you'll have an email client to prepare emails while you're connection is down :) Pretty cool, huh ;) we think so :D Just activate it in "Settings" of your Gmail account by clicking the "Offline" tab :)
One recent test iGetcha has noticed is, Gmail offline did not work with Firefox 3.6 so if you're on Firefox 3.5, it may be advisable to stay on that version unless you're worried about the recent security risk. Hopefully, Gmail offline will work with 3.6 soon. If your nonprofit needs an offline email client, this may save you the headache of installing a standard email client software on your desktop.
