For those nonprofits dependent on an Outlook Calendar, Lightning adds on to your Thunderbird so that you can schedule meetings with everyone inside and outside your organization. Also check out SunBird as an option from Mozilla Foundation too!

The argument could be to use a Google Calendar, but since this section refers to tools for nonprofits that are not online all the time, Lightning will satisfy those nonprofits that want to send an invite for a meeting during there limited connection time. Just think about losing Internet. It would definitely be better to have your calendar on your notebook or PC simply to have reference to your schedule... The iGetcha Team thinks this is why so many people are reliant on Outlook... So if you're wanting to have a free calendar solution to add onto your free software and open source netbook/notebook/PC, this may be your best bet ;)
