Mobile Citizen may not be free, but this is a valuable opportunity for not just nonprofits. In fact, it is an affordable solution for educational institutions as well. Currently having presence in Chicago, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Portland/Salem and expanding, look for Mobile Citizen to really help the community with WiMax provided by Clear.
If you have not already done so, iGetcha.org recommends taking a look at their service plans. Especially, notice their Technology Assistance Grants in the upper lefthand corner of their homepage. If you are lucky enough to live in the areas Mobile Citizen currently services, you can apply for a $10 WiMax plan. That's 4G technology of up to 6 Mbps download speed and 500 Kbps upload speed.
