iGetcha.org is a suggested opensource and free software directory for the technological sustainability of nonprofits. It's also a simple, non-techie shortlist to assist organizations with a SOHO.
We just had to put Pidgin here since we support free and open source software ;) Most of the Linux guys that iGetcha has talked to prefer Pidgin over Skype. For some reason, Skype doesn't work well on Linux machines (ie you sometimes cannot see everyone online since it's an early version of Skype, you cannot share your screen, et cetera). So if you choose the route of Ubuntu, Moblin or something else, Pidgin may be your best bet.
