iGetcha.org is a suggested opensource and free software directory for the technological sustainability of nonprofits. It's also a simple, non-techie shortlist to assist organizations with a SOHO.
Scribus is open source desktop publishing that is featured in NGO-in-a-box. Scribus has been around for 6+ years and you can use it for brochures, posters and newletters for example :) This is awesome for nonprofits! Now the question is, how do we get free printers and printer cartridges to make our nonprofit brochures ;) Check out recycles.org if you're in the US. If you're outside the US, iGetcha thinks Peace Corps is your best bet! Or maybe, Hope Plus if it really becomes sustainable ;)
