The answer is yes! Skype, Ning, Facebook, Google docs, Twitter, et cetera are all important applications to a nonprofit. As on the Facebook link above, fan pages are free and social media is becoming the most common way to market anything! Even a political campaign! ;)
Remember, Naomi Klein called Obama the superbrand.
